Timmy Greets Hampton Roads

I read Timmy’s story approximately 7 years ago, at a pretty low point in my life. I was struggling with depression, anxiety, and the feeling that comes with living a life that doesn’t really feel like it’s yours. Then, I heard about Timmy. It made me smile to read his perception of things – and I never stopped smiling or cheering him on. If he could take on the world, then the least I could do was to be a positive part of it.

Since first “meeting” Timmy, a lot of things have changed in my life, to include geographic location. At my place of employment, there is a beautiful path around the building, and several of us walk a lap or two at various times of the day in order to relax and enjoy a quick pause before returning to the hustle and bustle of our jobs. Somehow, it made sense to place Timmy’s stone there – as a reminder to enjoy the simple things in life and make the most of even the quietest of moments. Life is too short to be consumed by negativity – he would want us all to remember to hit pause on occasion and enjoy the sunshine :).
